Why do I keep getting UTIs

Target is right for you if you get UTIs (and if you’re reading this — you probably do!)

Bacteria can be introduced into the urinary tract in a number of ways. When bacteria travel up the urethra and multiply in any part of the urinary tract, you can get a UTI. Target flushes out new bacteria that may have been recently introduced.
How does it work
Target works in 4 key ways to prevent UTIs: 1) Target binds to bacteria, preventing them from attaching to the wall of the urinary tract. D-mannose aids in this process. Bacteria can then be flushed out of the urinary tract during urination. 2) Target uses Vitamin B6 - a safe and gentle diuretic - to increase urinary flow and eliminate the free-floating bacteria. Potassium, calcium, and magnesium salts help balance this diuretic process. 3) Target alkalizes the urine, making it more difficult for bacteria to grow. Immune cells and other proteins, which help combat UTI-causing bacteria, function better in a more alkaline environment. Urinary alkalinization also eases the symptoms of bladder irritation and discomfort associated with UTIs and Interstitial Cystitis (IC). 4) Target boosts the immune system at the right time using Vitamin C, which has antioxidant properties demonstrated to support immune system function and slow bacteria growth.
What triggers UTIs?
Though each person’s case is unique, there are generally two types of UTI triggers: 1) activities that introduce new bacteria into the urinary tract (like sex, exercise, swimming, and travel) and 2) situations that make it easier for bacteria to trigger an infection (like holding it, moisture, and sitting for long periods of time). Since sex is the top risk factor for UTIs, we recommend drinking Target soon after intercourse to flush out bacteria. If you’ve noticed other triggers, drink Target after those activities too. If none of the above apply to you but you still get UTIs, we recommend drinking Target every 3 days to regularly cleanse your urinary tract.

Control is right for you if you aren't always sure what triggers your UTIs.

Bacteria from previous infections can hide out in the urinary tract using “biofilm,” a protective shield that keeps them safe from antibiotics and the immune system. Control breaks up biofilm and prevents bacteria from reforming it, so you can prevent those relapse UTIs that seem to come out of nowhere.
How does it work?
Control works in four key ways to prevent relapse infections: 1) Control disrupts biofilm formation. Curcumin, the active compound in turmeric, and catechins, the compounds in green tea extract, both have demonstrated anti-biofilm and antimicrobial properties. 2) Control also promotes biofilm breakdown using curcumin. Existing biofilm in the urinary tract often contributes to recurrent UTIs. 3) Control slows bacterial growth using catechins. 4) Control flushes the remaining bacteria out of the urinary tract. Following biofilm disruption, Control leverages D-Mannose to bind to bacteria and help flush them out of the urinary tract. Take 2 capsules of Uqora Control daily with water to continually break up biofilm and remove UTI-causing bacteria.
What is “biofilm”?
Biofilm allows bacteria to stick to each other and to surfaces. Bacterial biofilms are often responsible for persistent, recurring infections, also known as relapse infections. It can be difficult to eradicate biofilm-forming bacteria, which are linked to significantly higher rates of antibiotic resistance. Biofilm-forming bacteria are also more likely to travel up the urinary tract and cause serious, potentially life-threatening infections in the kidneys. Biofilms are estimated to be responsible for over 65% of non-hospital-associated infections.
How can biofilm cause UTIs?
Recurrent UTIs caused by biofilm-forming bacteria are often unrelated to specific behaviors or activities. Instead, these infections are caused by hidden bacteria from past infections. That’s why UTIs may appear without any clear cause. When the immune system is weakened due to stress, lack of sleep, or other illness, you’re more prone to relapse infections.

Promote is right for you if you've taken antibiotics in the past 6 months.

Antibiotics kill off the UTI-causing bacteria, but they also kill good bacteria in other places — like the vagina — which can throw off the natural balance of bacteria in the vagina. New research shows that this imbalance puts us at higher risk of UTIs. Promote is a specialized probiotic for your vagina (not your gut). It restores and maintains the good vaginal bacteria, balancing vaginal pH and protecting you from UTIs.
How does it work?
Promote includes the only two probiotic strains clinically demonstrated to restore and maintain good vaginal bacteria and pH (Lactobacillus Rhamnosus and Lactobacillus Reuteri). These keep yeast and other unfavorable bacteria in check, which helps to combat UTIs. Take one capsule of Uqora Promote daily to restore healthy vaginal bacteria.
How are vaginal pH and UTIs related?
Antibiotics are great at killing off bad bacteria, but they can often kill off the good bacteria that our body needs to stay balanced in the process. Taking antibiotics for UTI treatment or prevention can disrupt the vaginal microbiome, causing pH to rise. When vaginal pH rises, bad bacteria can thrive and start a chain reaction that leaves us more vulnerable to UTIs. Vaginal infections (like yeast infections and bacterial vaginosis) are now known to increase the risk of recurrent UTIs, which can leave you trapped in a cycle of infections.
How is it different from other probiotics?
Not all probiotics are the same. Promote is a vaginal probiotic, not a digestive probiotic. Promote restores the good bacteria that are specific to vaginal health. You can take Promote alongside other probiotics you might be taking. Already taking a vaginal probiotic? Great! Just make sure that it has these two strains: L. Rhamnosus and L. Reuteri.

All three of our products together, the Prevention System provides defense from all angles. UTIs can be caused by hidden bacteria and new bacteria, and imbalances in our microbiome can make things worse. That's why we recommend all three of our products together for the most protection against UTIs.
